Summary: 

Bisphenol-A (or BPA), a dangerous chemical especially founded in hard plastic, is a really dangerous risk for many negative health effects. Decreasing sperm is now added in the list above. According to Dr.Li, it's a missing link in human studies. Moreover, it's a really dangerous toxic which harms men's germs. Canada is the first country list officially listed BPA as a dangerous toxic, and the U.S. government hasn't taken any certain action.

Response:

In my opinion, BPA, or whatever it is, is a really dangerous chemical. It has many negative effects especially for men. As a new foundation, I think scientists will make more research to figure out how to solve this problem. Hopefully this toxic will be solved as soon as possible because of men's benefits.

2nd Novel Assignment - Character Trait

Chosen Character: Curley

      Curley is the boss's son (boss of the California ranch) who almost has all the power. He's a small guy and that makes me hate the other big guys. There are many things about Curley we need to consider.

    First thing we need to mention about is his personality. Curley's personality is shown actually and and clearly in the conversation between four people: the boss, Curley, Georgie and finally is Lennie. Lennie is supposed to say nothing but Curley forced him to say something. Curley tries to be a bully (which is his real personality shown in the novel) to make Lennie speak. And the reason I chose him because he's a bully and that would be some interesting things about the bully. Curley's personality is not the only thing is analyzed. 

      The other thing is the similar (if there is) between me and Curley. I do not admire any of Curley's actions because they're all bully, they're not used for a modern knowledge person. And I don't think there would be any similar between us. Because basically Curley is a bully and I am not. Another thing that I think I would have a emotional connect with Curley because I think I understand how Curley feels and what makes him become a bully.

       The last thing is about what Curley's going to do. I think with this personality, Curley will make some problems for himself, especially with Lennie. Because I think one day Lennie will stop staying down and he will be revenged. And also about his decision about the current situation, I think he's making wrong decision because there is no good future in making problem and being mean with people.

Summarize:

       Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. (T.I.), famous American rapper, helped the police talk to the man who wanted to jump down from an Atlanta Skyscraper when he was not expected. It's said that this famous rapper came to the 22 story office building and told the Officer James Polite that he wanted to help. The man agreed to face to face with T.I. and have a conversation with the American famous rapper. T.I. console the man that everything would get better. T.I. console the man that It looked bad right now, but it could turn around. T.I. said he heard the situation on the radio and drove to the building to help. This was one of the good action of this rapper who has been in many troubles with drug offenses and weapon charges. 

Personal Response: 

     I do like this rapper a lot. In my opinion, I think he's trying to make "good scores" in the crowd because of the trouble he has been in. However, he did a good job when he came and consoled the man who was just wanting to die. He did save the guy's life. Clifford Harris has done a good job in saving a person's life.

1st Novel Assignment - Novel Setting

My novel: Of Mice And Men

        Of Mice And Men is a famous novel written by John Steinbeck. It was published in 1937. Just like other books, the beginning Of Mice And Men has its setting. The setting of the beginning of the book includes many things.
       The novel starts with the landscape of the bank of Salinas River, a few miles south of Soledad, California. "On the valley side, the water is lined with trees", "the sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over the pool"... are good evidences to prove that the story was taken place in a beginning of a spring. Everything is getting back its vitality after the long sleep in the winter. It is a hot day of the spring. The more carefully the weather was described, the less details the timeline was mentioned. Actually, John Steinbeck didn't mention anything about the historical period of the novel. But it's said that the novel takes place during the Depression of the 1930s. Therefore, the place where the novel takes place, the weather condition and the historical timeline of the novel are one important of the setting.
      Another important part of the setting is characteristic (the background) of the characters. The novel starts with the travel of 2 main characters, George Milton and Lennie Small. They were on their way to come to a California Ranch, where they got their new job. They are laborers. George acts like Lennie's Guardian. According to George, his life would have been better without Lennie (Lennie always gets in trouble whenever they get jobs). But it doesn't mean that he hates Lennie. They work, travel, sleep together like brothers. As told in the story (of George), they would have a better life after working couple months, they would get a house, tend the rabbit and many other beautiful things (at their period of time). They seem good people.
      The beginning of the novel is also the new adventure of George and Lennie. They're coming to the new place to work with a hope of a house, a small ranch to live together. Are they going to catch their dream? Is Lennie going to make any trouble? We can not say anything yet.

Missing WWU student's body found off Bellingham dock

Summary:

          Dwight Clark, a Western Washington University freshman, has been missing since September 26 after he left a party six blocks away from his university dorm. His body was found off a dock in Bellingham by a man plating  eel grass. The Clark's driver's license was on his body which helped Mark Young, spokesman of the Bellingham Police Department, to confirm  that there was no reason to deny that was not Clark's body. The body was reported to the Port before the Port Official called the Police Department. That area was found carefully by air and by dog. The body was hidden and covered carefully so it couldn't have been detected. The WWU president Bruce Shepard said that they were really sorry about what happened. WWU is planning a gathering at Red Square to remember Clark.

Personal Response:

         I feel really bad for what happened, even though I don't know who he is. But actually he's just like me, a freshman college student. His future is showing. His beautiful future is showing in front of his face. It's said that he was one of the best kids in the area so I think his lost will be a huge lost for WWU and many of his friends. I really want to say sorry to his friends, his family and pray for him to rest in peace.

My 1st Post - Introduce about myself

     Hi, I'm Tri, I'm 18 years old. My full name is Tri Minh Le :) But you also can call me Tri (it pronouns like Tree...). Here is some info about myself.
     I was born in Hochiminh city, Vietnam. There are four people in my family, my mom, my dad, my brother and me. My mom and my dad were divorced and I used to live with my mom. My mom is a college teacher and my dad is an business man. I speak Vietnamese as my mother-language. And English is my second language.
     I went to Bui Thi Xuan High school and then transfered to North Douglas High School as an Exchange student in 2009. After that I graduated and got an Oregon diploma. And now I'm here, in Seattle Central Community College - SCCC.
     I'm studying ESL level 5, but my major actually is business. I want to get an A.A. degree and then transfer to U.W. or a University in Texas. And in my opinion, studying is not only about focusing on studying, but it is also about relaxing at the right time.

     I want to earn a Degree in Finance. After that, I want to have a job with high paid and have a beautiful family :).

     About myself, it's said that I'm funny, friendly, nice and really open minded. If you want to know if that's the truth or not, just be my friends :).
     I hope my English will get better, I'll be able to get high grades in the TOEFL test and also be able to apply in to a University.
     The most interesting kind of news I'm interested in is about politic. I really don't know why, but I really enjoy reading or hearing info about politic.
      There are too many things about a person to know from just an intro. The easiest way to get along with someone is to talk to them and find out about themselves. :)
